Watch Your Head! (Colossians 1:15-20)

As creatures of space and time, we have an innate longing for stability. Our world feels rushed and often in a panic; we live in a country where stability seems elusive. And we can often feel that we are just careening from one crisis to another in our personal lives. Is there anything or anyone that can give us the steady ground that we crave? The Colossians were finding themselves exhorted by spiritual leaders to look for greater experiences and knowledge beyond what had brought them into the faith--the gospel. As he does so, we are reminded of this: “In order to keep your footing, watch your Head.”
